Sunday 11/19/23 Journal Entry

Today, I worked the Men’s Basketball Spirit Club check-in that was located at the Schottenstein Center. Upon arrival, there were some issues with staff parking as this was the first time I was not allowed to park at the venue of an event. Once I arrived at the Schott, I met with my supervisor who had already had the materials from the camp. He had not worked a spirit club check-in yet, but I had, so I had to give a rundown of how it went last time to ensure efficiency as there were around 150 participants for the camp. We decided that it would be beneficial to give the participants their number and color to help out the other staff when they went to the next table to pick it up. We checked in the participants and gave them their number and color, along with answering any questions regarding pick up for their camper. By the end of check-in time, we had about 13 campers who still needed to check in. We called those who had not shown up yet, just to make sure that they were not coming or were on their way. We had about 3 campers that showed up late so we got them checked in as soon as possible so they did not miss any of the instruction. I personally had a few campers explain that they could no longer make it and I had to walk them through the refund process as they were eligible for one. Once all participants that were left were called, we relayed the information to our supervisor and the staff and then left for the day.
